A Relaxed Company.

A Relaxed Company was formed by two of the UK’s leading experts in relaxed and accessible theatre, we advise productions, theatres and venues on accessibility for neurodiverse and autistic audiences.

We support production companies and theatres to create relaxed performances and make venues more accessible. We have worked with production companies and theatres in the West End and regionally for over 12 years, including Disney Theatrical Group, LW Theatres, Nimax, Delfont Macintosh, ATG, ABBA Voyage and the Royal Shakespeare Company.

We now work across multiple industries to deliver training, consultancy and advocacy - in television and broadcast, visual and performing arts, cultural venues, education and transport, and beyond.

Any show can be relaxed, and any venue can be made more neurodiverse friendly. Whether you want comprehensive delivery support, additional training for your team or don’t know where to begin, we are here to help. If you’re after authentic, first hand guidance on making your content, your venue or your company more accessible for as many people as possible, drop us an email.

What we do & how we can help.

Relaxed performances

We advise productions and theatres on how to relax a show and a venue, and make it accessible for audiences with autism, neurodiversity and other sensory needs. We are available at every stage and can support across every element including amends to the show and the building, training for cast, crew, and front of house, advice on creating support resources and marketing and outreach to audience. Autism friendly spaces - auditing, accommodation and training

We have extensive experience training and working with venues up and down the country, from a convenience store in Aylesbury to the biggest museums and airports in the UK. Small changes can make a big difference in welcoming people to your venue and we can provide the guidance needed, as well as the training so that your staff feel prepared to welcome those with differing needs.

Neurodiversity & working in the arts

We do not solely aim to make the world of theatre and the arts more accessible for patrons: we want it to be more accessible for those working in the sphere as well. We offer training and consultancy on attracting, retaining, promoting, and supporting disabled talent.

Representation for neurodivergent people

Chris is an autistic advocate and public speaker with extensive experience in sharing his own experience as well as supporting others to have their voices heard. He has also provided training and consultancy across many media organisations including the BBC to increase the representation and visibility of disabled people in their content. We can help you to make better representation a reality.

Neurodiversity in broadcast

We work in the television and broadcast to support channels, production houses and productions on ensuring their neurodivergent talent are supported to do their best work, both on- and off-screen. This might be offering training on neurodiversity so that teams feel comfortable and confident working with neurodivergent talent and team members. And we offer creative direction, advising on stories based on neurodivergence or including neurodivergent characters, ensuring they are authentic and  representative as well as powerful.

Autistic people don’t react strangely; they react naturally in response to a different experience of the world.
